Second Annual Verde Valley Archaeology Fair

The Verde Valley Archaeology Fair is held during Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month in March. Visit the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office for a schedule of the many activities held during March throughout Arizona.

Join us for two exciting days of archaeological adventures, and take a trip back in time to explore the past through hands-on activities and presentations. Experience the excitement of archaeology with dozens of hands-on activities, live presentations, and special programs.

International Archaeology Film Festival
Our goal is to make a positive contribution to the preservation of our common heritage and to the deeper understanding of those elements which have united us since antiquity around the world. We strive to exhibit for our audience the wonderful diversity of human cultures past and present in the exploration of our place in history and the world.

This is the only event in Arizona that promotes the makers of films and videos about archaeology and indigenous peoples. Archeological films are the paramount means for the dissemination of knowledge of the ancient world. The images are immediate and speaks all languages.


Archaeology Exhibits, Demonstrations and Vendors
Our Archaeology Fair is special free event that feature archaeologically themed programs and interactive activities for the whole family. Activities are created and presented by archaeologists, educators and other specialists. This is your chance to dig into archaeology and uncover the past.


American Indian Art Show
The archaeology of the Verde Valley is steeped in the ancient traditions of those who came before us. Evidence of ancestral Hop, Yavapai, Apache and Navajo dot the landscape. In recognition and respect for these traditions, the Archaeilogy Fair presents opportuntiies for Native American artists to display traditional and contemporary techniques in arts and crafts including jewelry, basketry, wood and stone carving, weaving, pottery, and beadwork. The event includes free Native American entertainment.


Archaeology for Kids
Archaeology is learning about ancient people, how they lived, what they looked like, what tools they used and also learning about their culture. Kids love learning about past civilizations and how earlier people lived. Children can enjoy discovering more about what has come before them.

Special Archaeology Fair Hopi and Navajo Tours

Crossing Worlds Journeys and Tours is offering tours and programs in conjunction with Verde Valley Archaeology Fair including Hopi, Navajo, Havasupai special tours and evening circles.
